Queen of Reversals...

Let me just start by saying that while I loved Chae Jung Ahn in Coffee Prince...I quite hate her in the Queen of Reversals - which must mean she is a great actress. To be able to invoke emotions in your audience is surely a great feat. Not many actors can justifiably do so.

This drama was good to start with but took the wrong turn for me as soon as the lead female got married. I do appreciate emotional angst in my dramas, but I also like to see the hero/heroine take a stand eventually. Some sort of payback was definitely due - which in my humble opinion was not delivered at the right time. This drama kept heaping sorrow after miserable sorrow on our female until she was quite possibly drowning in it. This put me off so much so that I stopped watching in the middle of the drama.

I know that in real life people can be mean and vindictive, but it is rather hard for me to witness it in the drama and be quite incapable of doing anything. While I wait in anticipation for my hero/heroine to fight back, the writers don't feel it is the time. So alas my emotions taker a roller coaster ride. While this drama is pretty good and the casting gives me no room for complaints, I just don't think I am up for watching this one right now. Perhaps another time when the mood is right....

Once Upon a time in Saeng Chori

Just finished watching this amazing Korean Drama. This drama is so underrated, it is mind boggling! I have been trying to find a good one to watch for some time and passed this one up several times actually. If it wasn't for the handful of reviewers who gave it rave reviews, I would have probably never given it a chance.

The storyline is so un-Kdrama-ish, that it is refreshing. There is tons of 'actual' humour and the cast is simply epic! The delectable Ha Suk Jin, the girl from Full House, the incompetent manager who loves reading manga, the crazy scary residents of Saeng Chori, the guy who loves to spout dialogues from 'Secret Garden'...

Humour, wit, drama, tension and mystery involved, this drama had absolutely no boring moments. I have a bad habit of fast forwarding when I am watching something and come across boring scenes. I am surprised to say that I watched every minute of this drama, which is very rare.

Special appearance made by the lovable Kim Tak Gu!
